Viva Italia! Sept 20141 Comment
September 2014, my wife Laura and I went to Italy for our first adventure into Europe. We started in Venice, “The City on Water”, as you probably know, full of canals and waterways. Then we traveled by train all over Italy. First to Verona, then Cinque Terra, which is a stretch of five towns nestled into the rocky Italian Riviera . We stayed in Monterossa, Beautiful! We then visited a friend, Ron and Nancy, who have a home in Tourrette-Sur-Loup in southern France back behind Nice and Cannes. Ron and Nancy drove us all around for 3 days, we visited walled cities during the day and had dinners at night along the coast, unbelievable and gorgeous. Then back into Italy to Firenza, (Florence as we know it). We had guided tours of the Accademia and Uffizi museums, we sure learned a lot. then I rented a car and drove to San Giovanni, a walled city with many tall towers in the heart of Tuscany. We stayed in a agriturismo, Ours farm had cooking lessons available and made their own wine and cheeses. Last stop, Rome, one of the worlds most beautiful ancient cities. We toured Vatican City, the Colosseum and Pantheon. we found Trevi Fountain, but unfortuntely it was under reconstruction. The temperature mid September was perfect, crowds were low, and the food and wine- Fantastic!
